ALJ dismisses U.S. Steel trans-shipment claim in 337 case against Chinese companies

A U.S. International Trade Commission administrative law judge has granted a motion to terminate a “false designation of origin” claim against Chinese steel companies, one of three U.S. Steel Corp. claims in a controversial section 337 case that accuses the Chinese companies of setting artificially low steel prices and evading duties through trans-shipment, and the company Baosteel of stealing trade secrets. ALJ Dee Lord on Jan. 11 terminated the false designation claim, citing U.S. Steel's failure to provide “direct evidence.”...
