Labor, industry, lawmakers weigh in on USTR’s proposed port fees

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative on Monday heard from a range of stakeholders on its proposal to levy fees on Chinese-built and operated ships that dock at U.S. ports, with a focus on whether such measures could help revitalize U.S. shipbuilding and how they might impact U.S. trade.
