Omnibus package includes language on tech purchases from China

The omnibus fiscal 2017 appropriations measure approved by Congress this week includes a provision requiring U.S. agencies to take extra steps to ensure the cybersecurity of technology products purchased from companies affiliated with the Chinese government. The Chinese government in the past has objected to the provision as unfairly singling out Chinese companies for discriminatory treatment in the U.S. government's procurement process.
