USTR: Exclusion requests for Section 301 tariffs on $200 billion in Chinese goods will cost $9.7 million

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative estimates it will need 175,000 hours and $9.7 million to process requests to exclude products from Section 301 tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports, the agency said in a Federal Register notice on Thursday. President Trump in May increased 10 percent tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods to 25 percent after trade negotiations with Beijing fell apart.
