WTO names panelists for China’s challenge of U.S. Section 301 tariffs

The World Trade Organization on Monday named the panelists who will hear China’s challenge of the Trump administration’s Section 301 tariffs. To date, the U.S. has imposed 25 percent tariffs on $250 billion worth of Chinese goods. Beijing claims the tariffs are in violation of the WTO’s most-favored nation principle, that the U.S. has unjustly exceeded its bound tariffs, and the rules regarding dispute settlement because the tariffs were imposed unilaterally.
