AISI calls on Trump to crack down on steel imports during Asia visit

The American Iron and Steel Institute is calling on President Trump to urge his Asian counterparts to end subsidy programs and “other damaging trade practices” the group says have led to surges in steel imports. In a Nov. 1 letter to the president , AISI CEO Thomas Gibson said “dramatic action is needed” to revitalize the domestic steel industry and urged Trump to discuss the issue with officials during his upcoming 12-day trip to Asia.
