USTR plans to ‘maximize utilization’ of GSP for Pacific Island nations

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative supports the reauthorization of the Generalized System of Preferences and will explore ways of using the trade preference program to benefit Pacific Island nations, including a possible regional association, the agency said on Thursday. In USTR’s announcement of a new “Trade and Investment Dialogue with Pacific Islands,” the agency said the U.S. would work with countries in the region on how to “maximize utilization” of GSP, “subject to Congressional reauthorization.” The program expired...
